According to information provided by officials of Piedmont Newnan Hospital, all patient rooms in the new hospital share several features.
Some of those features and amenities include:
• All general medical/surgical patient rooms and units are the same. These "standardized" units will make it easier for both staff and visitors to navigate throughout the hospital.
• All rooms will accommodate an overnight family guest, featuring both sleeper sofas and recliners in every room.
• All patient rooms feature private, handicapped-accessible restrooms, with walk-in showers, easily accessible for those with mobility issues.
• All inpatient beds will be brand new.
• All ICU beds will have built-in technology to include music therapy and basic language interpretation services (i.e., giving patients and care providers the ability to have basic conversations about pain management, questions, and other topics).
• All patient rooms are insulated, providing a quiet and peaceful environment that promotes healing.
• Warm, earth-toned colors and textures are used throughout all inpatient areas and patient rooms to promote a healing environment.
• Flat-screen televisions will be in every patient room, featuring "Telehealth" programming, an on-demand, in-room interactive video education, entertainment and information system for patients.
This system offers a patient-friendly "graphical user interface" displayed on the patient's television in his/her room. Its content includes education, entertainment, information, relaxation and music selected by the patient. It also provides patients immediate information and education on their specific health condition.
• All patient rooms will have their own climate-control systems.
• All patient rooms will feature large "picture windows" with gorgeous views of Coweta County, with blinds in place to cover the windows if the patient is sensitive to light or needs to darken the room.
• Privacy curtains will be in all patient rooms, in the event that a patient needs privacy (i.e., to receive care while loved ones are present) while in his/her room.
• "Quiet Rooms" will be located on every floor for physicians to dictate and for clinical pharmacists to review patient charts.
• Consultation rooms will be located on each floor for private family consultations with care providers, along with family alcoves.
• Ceiling-mounted lifts will be located in two of the ICU patient rooms and one emergency department room to assist with bariatric patients.
• A dialysis suite will be located on the eighth floor, featuring four bays with dialysis chairs and individual televisions for each bay. Every ICU room is also equipped for dialysis and four other patient rooms on other floors will also have dialysis capabilities.
• Floors in the fifth floor patient rooms and dialysis suite are welded vinyl, which promotes easy cleaning in the event of spills.
• Four isolation rooms are located on each floor for patients who are immunosuppressed or who may be receiving care for a contagious illness.
